Danielle's Artist Book

Throughout the course of art history the concept of women being displayed in natural settings has been a common theme.  Women and nature have become unified as one.  Portraying women and nature in the way that many artists of the past have creates the idea that women are simply erotic subjects for the viewer to gaze at and brings into question the domination of both women and nature. By selecting works of art which portray women in natural settings and then reinventing them through photography I hope to portray women as a separate identity from nature, as independent, and as powerful.

Presentation of Book

I am going to have my book made rather than make it myself because I want my book to look similar in structure to an art history book.  I would like to display both the original image and then my image side by side if possible.  I am going to try to make my book have somewhere from 10-15 pages.

Here are a few more pictures that I took this weekend. I am not sure if I like the reclining pose with the book and the glasses or the other one better. Please give me any feedback on which one you guys prefer.

So here are some pictures that I took this past week. I am not sure that they really capture what I want them to but I am thinking of how I can change the background to change the content of the photo. I think the photos turned out really beautifully and I will deffinately be taking many more photos in the next week or two. The empty picture frame is where I will be putting the original artwork thanks to some of you wonderful ideas! Let me know what you all think.

I would like to make my book a standard 8x10 size through blurb.

On the front of my book I would like to have an image of me that looks like I am trapped in a frame.

On the back of my book I would like to have a picture of me holding the picture of me trapped in the frame.

I would like to put my artist statement on the back flap of the book so that whoever is looking at the book can look at it first with a fresh mind and their own opinions before seeing what my intent was for the pictures. I don't want to have any text to go along with the pictures. I think I would like to have the pictures full spread over the pages.

Here is another artwork that I have decided to recreate. Not quite sure what all I would like to change in it yet. Photoshoot this coming weekend!

Okay, so I was super sick this weekend and had to hold off on my photoshoot but I decided to at least post some more detailed ideas for one of my selected artworks.

In this picture I am thinking of portraying the working woman. I would like to change the background of this one to something like a brick wall of a building. The woman will probably have a pencil behind her ear instead of a flower. I'm not sure if I want to portray the woman in this one as more of a hard working business woman or more of a hard working waitress type of woman. Either way I want to show this woman as a hard working individual who also embraces her beauty as a woman.
