Throughout the course of art history the concept of women being displayed in natural settings has been a common theme.  Women and nature have become unified as one.  Portraying women and nature in the way that many artists of the past have creates the idea that women are simply erotic subjects for the viewer to gaze at and brings into question the domination of both women and nature. By selecting works of art which portray women in natural settings and then reinventing them through photography I hope to portray women as a separate identity from nature, as independent, and as powerful.

Presentation of Book

I am going to have my book made rather than make it myself because I want my book to look similar in structure to an art history book.  I would like to display both the original image and then my image side by side if possible.  I am going to try to make my book have somewhere from 10-15 pages.

Artworks which I may use

For all of these photos I may change the background slightly or ad props to the scene that would imply things such as knowledge and power to these woman instead of them just being sexual beings.

In this first photo, I have the idea of making the woman more alert by opening her eyes. I would like to maybe place her hand higher onto her thigh instead of between her legs which draws your attention to you know what.

In this one I would like to have the woman look over her shoulder and give a very confident stare into the viewers eyes. Maybe she could be holding a prop that implies something in her hand that is hanging down.

In some of these pictures I would also like to paint or draw text of some sort onto the actual woman's body. The text may be a quote of some sort by a well known feminist or something that the actual woman has to say about an experience they have had as a woman.
